Kent Kingsley - Owner at My Medigap Consultant
From: Charlotte, North Carolina
Family: Married to wife Pam for 21 years, daughter Loral (15 going on 25!) and two dogs Lexie, a Labradoodle (12) and Gracie, a Maltipoo (3).
Places Lived: Charlotte NC, Fort Mill SC, Rock Hill SC, Clemson SC, Harvard MA (lasted 1 mo lol), Brookfield WI (lasted 2 weeks here), Hickory NC, Telluride CO (should have never left!)
Favorite Sports Team: Clemson Tigers! (if you are a Gamecock just know that I have many friends and clients that are too and I treat you all the same...maybe a little ribbing every now and then)
College: Clemson University, BS Textile Management, 1993. This really prepared me for the insurance world!
Hobbies: Traveling and making as many memories with my wife and daughter as we can. I used to play a lot of golf and would like to play more than I do. I love to do anything with wood....remodeling a room, building a cabinet, etc.
Fun Fact about me: As you can see from the pictures my daughter competes in Hunter/Jumper equestrian events. She rides 5 days a week! Therefore, I AM BROKE...please refer all family, friends, neighbors, strangers and even your enemies to my services.
Favorite Food: Mexican!
Favorite Recipe: I can smoke a Boston Butt pretty good. I love to grill and smoke meat. I don't do Brisket (sorry Texan clients) only because the first time I did it I didn't know what I was doing (probably before Google was around) and I over smoked and under cooked and now my wife refuses Brisket....I need to give it another go now that I know a little more.
Here is a little more info about me: I graduated from Clemson University in 1993 with a degree in Textile Management. After college I went to work for a company in Hickory NC as their lab manager. This provided me a good experience but wasn’t what I was looking to do. Not sure of where/what to do I decided after about 2 years to pack up and move to Telluride, Colorado to be a ski bum. This was an awesome time as I spent the 1995/96 ski season there.
I moved back to Charlotte after my journey and have been here ever since. I went to work with a Textile company in Charlotte as their Quality and Process Engineer for the next 9 years. This too was a great experience however I always wanted to be on my own so I finally made the move to venture out on my own. In 2008 I became a licensed insurance broker and I haven’t looked back since.
I started as an independent broker in the health insurance market originally. As this market has changed over the years I have expanded more and more of my focus to Medicare. As a broker I have helped hundreds of clients successfully compare all their options to the various carriers and plan types in the health insurance market. Being able to represent all the major carriers is a major benefit to my clients…this allows them to feel secure in that they are getting the best option for their specific need.
When not helping people with their insurance, I enjoy spending time with my wife and daughter, bicycling, snow skiing, remodeling my home and most importantly watching my Clemson Tigers.
